I love what M. Scott Peck says, “God designed us to yearn for open, honest, authentic relationships…. But because we choose peacekeeping over truth-telling, we end up in ‘pseudocommunal’ relationships instead.
“The only antidote to pseudocommuntity is chaos—I call it ‘the tunnel of chaos’—where hurts are unburied, hostilities revealed, and tough questions asked.”
If we want real community, we have to enter through a tunnel of chaos, as Peck says. It takes risk and safety. It is living in the tension of truth and love.
May all of your relationships be authentic… and may they all enter the necessary tunnels of chaos, in healthy but hard ways, to get there.
Blessings for your journey.
