It is completely organic and hands-on. There is very LITTLE lecture and 98% class involvement. We will be learning by doing instead of learning by sitting and listening. It will be a blast.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

YM326 is a creative and practical simulation course (the class acts as a real youth ministry team) focused on the mastery of intermediate youth ministry and practical theological skills and competencies (e.g. biblical study tools, technology, creative program creation and development, administration of ministry and personal budgets and finances) by developing a complete year’s worth of youth and family ministry programming through careful hermeneutic and exegetical practice.

COURSE RATIONALE

Ministry with youth and families in the 21st century requires professional skills in order to connect with the ever-changing adolescent culture. Other courses cover the issues related to youth ministry and have some practice times in each class. However, in order to prepare for an internship and a life of ministry, students need real-life hands-on training. That is what we will do. In addition, it will be fun because we will be creative, engaged, and learning by doing! Bloom’s Taxonomy, stage six, at its best!
